The charger is the easy part. Whether your panel will carry it is the question worth asking first, and out here the answer is "not without work" more often than people expect.
A Level 2 charger is a 40 or 60 amp circuit. On a house that already has two air handlers, a pool, and a full panel, that is a real addition. We run the calculation, tell you what your service will actually carry, and if the panel has to be upgraded first we quote it separately so you can see which cost is which.
We would rather have that conversation on the estimate than halfway through the install with your garage wall open.
Garage wall on the other side of the panel is straightforward. The price starts moving when the run has to go somewhere else: a detached garage, the far end of a long house, upstairs, or outside and back in through the brick.
A lot of the newer Katy subdivisions put the panel on the opposite side of the house from where people want to park. Ask any electrician quoting you what route the run takes — if they have not looked, they have not quoted the job.
Katy spans Harris, Fort Bend and Waller counties, so where the permit goes depends on your address. We handle that. Inspection gets scheduled and passed as part of the job.
